Our philosophy at “The New Chambers – The Greek Island Taverna” taverna is Greek Hospitality and Authentic Dinning at its best!

Every customer is treated like family and we always aim for perfection. Time tested family recipes and new creations will have you experience the best Greek food ever!

We strongly believe in the primary principals that made us one of the most successful tavernas in Sydney for nearly two decades: making every guest feel at home, bringing out the authenticity of Greek products and making your visit to “The New Chambers – The Greek Island Taverna” a most memorable one by serving deliciously cooked food that takes you on a gastronomic trip across Greece.

Our commitment is all of the above, plus the promise that we will be constantly updating our services, keeping the authenticity of the tastes and the spirit of the famous Greek “filoxenia” (hospitality) as our top priorities! Our mission to take you on a gastronomic journey and create a memorable event, is a constant aim in our hearts together with our efforts to keep “The New Chambers – The Greek Island Taverna” as what it truly is; a cradle of tastes, memories and hospitality!

History

OUR HISTORY

The history of “The New Chambers – The Greek Island Taverna” dates back to the 80’s, when John Kyriakides and his wife Sotiria decided to open a Greek taverna in the Earlwood area. The love for John’s island Kos and the village of Antimahia in particular, along with his passion for authentic Greek products and traditional recipes led him to create a taverna that would showcase the mainland Greece and Greek islands in dishes bursting with flavour.

John and Sotiria brought to this taverna their long experience in cafes, restaurants, take away and fish & chips shops, but also because they never stopped believing in the primary principals that made the establishment one of the most successful tavernas in Sydney: making every guest feel at home, bringing out the authenticity of Greek products, serving deliciously cooked food.

Ten years later, the taverna moved to Sutherland – where it is still situated -, with the same philosophy and efforts to keep it as what it truly is; a cradle of tastes, memories and hospitality!

The Hatzikiriakos children are now involved – along with their spouses – in the restaurant’s administration, always under the guidance of John and Sotiria, and have helped in upgrading and modernizing the facilities and services, always with the aim to continue the legacy which established “The New Chambers – The Greek Island Taverna” as one of Sydney’s best Greek tavernas in Sydney.
